Ammonia is crucial for the manufacture of nitrogen fertilizers and is also widely regarded as a promising energy or hydrogen carrier. Due to the high energy consumption of the industrial ammonia production, the development of alternative materials and approaches for efficient N2 reduction to ammonia under mild conditions is a long-sought goal. The employment of main group elements for this vita...
Recently, a research team led by Prof. CHEN Ping, Associate Prof. LIU Lin from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Associate Prof. WU Anan from Xiamen University found that samarium hydride (Sm−H) species, in situ generated on the surface of Ru clusters/Sm2O3 catalyst under reaction conditions, could work synergistically to enhance...
Research group led by Prof. Ping Chen from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was recently invited to publish a review article on Cell Reports Physical Science, titled “Hydrides Mediate Nitrogen Fixation”. Prof. Chen's group has long been devoted to the research of hydrogen-mediated activation and fixation of nitrogen molecules. (Nature Chemistr...
Semi-hydrogenation of alkynes to alkenes plays a critical role in petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical synthesis and manufacture of fine chemicals.Recently, a joint research group from DICP and Xiamen university developed an efficient hydride catalyst for alkynes semi-hydrogenation. High selectivity of alkenes can be achieved by using a calcium palladium complex hydride catalyst. This researc...
Complex Hydride Materials Research Group focuses on the research and development of nitrogen-based hydrogen storage materials; explores the relationship between structure and activity, develops new concept for material design; investigates the mechanism of hydrogen absorption/desorption; optimizes thermodynamic and kinetics for hydrogen storage; and employs complex hydrides as catalysts or co-catalysts in heterogeneous catalysis, such as ammonia synthesis, ammonia decomposition and hydrogenation.
The group has 4 professors, 5 associate professors, 3 senior engineers, 1 research assistant, 1 post-doctor and more than 30 graduate students.
